Run for the Hills 2014

On September 7th, the Run for Hills 5k Trail Run had a banner day with perfect weather and a record turnout. 250 registrants from 5 states and 60 towns enjoyed the open space, fields, and trails of beautiful Harvard, MA. 100% of the net proceeds were contributed to the Harvard Conservation Trust. We are most grateful for our sponsors, volunteers, and participants. Next year’s race will again be on the Sunday after Labor Day (9/13/15) at 10 a.m.

The results and pictures are posted. Enjoy!

The Great Harvard 4th of July Road Races – another great day in Harvard, MA!

The Great Harvard 4th of July went off in spite of some predicted bad weather this morning in overcast skies and temps in the 70’s. Humidity was relatively high but that didn’t stop eventual Men’s winner Glarius Rop of setting a blazingly fast course record of 24:47 (4:57/miile) and taking home a $100 course record prize. The women’s race was won by 15 year old Sylvia Jackson of Littleton.

And, in the fun run, there were 70 kids that ran the race today and all appears to have a great time out on the course!

4th of July races are still a go!

The Great Harvard 4th of July 5-miler and fun run classics are scheduled for tomorrow!

In the event of thunder & lightning, we will have up to a 1-hour delay. If at that point, it is still not safe to run the race, it will be canceled.

As of now and until such time as we have to cancel the race, it’s a go!

Please email racedirector@harvardraces.org if you have any questions.

Thanks.

2013 … going, going …

2013 is almost in the books (as they say) and this is a perfect time to say thank you to our sponsors, runners, committee members and volunteers for which our races would not happen.

This year, the Harvard Road Race Association, put on 3 races : The Great 4th of July 5-miler, the Apple Harvest Ramble and the Harvard kids (only!) trail race. And, we assisted with the Harvard Conservation Trust’s annual Run for the Hills Trail race.

NVGP final results posted!

The 3rd Annual Nashoba Valley Grand Prix series concluded with the Ayer Thanksgiving Day Firefighter 5k this past Thursday. It was a perfect day for a race and the committee from Ayer always puts on a great event as does Groton and Harvard. I would like to congratulate all those that participated in our series and thank all of the towns who committed resources (time & money) to make this series happen. It’s always nice to hear runners say that they wouldn’t have run these races if it wasn’t for the series and the coveted custom printed hoodie at the end!

The final results are posted and the winners are the following:

Women:

  • Sylvia Jackson – 1st place
  • Amei Shei – 2nd place
  • Sue Cote – 3rd place

Men:

  • Dave Dixon – 1st place
  • Don Cosetino – 2nd place
  • Christopher Russell – 3rd place

(Christopher Russell is on the Groton race committee and not eligible for prize money. The money rolls down to Spencer McEwen of Harvard, MA. Sylvia Jackson is also not eligible for prize money as she is only 14 years old. As she did last year, her prize money will be donated to a cause to be named.)

The committee is made up of members of the race committees from Ayer, Groton and Harvard. The committee will be meeting at some point soon to decide if the series will continue for a 4th year.

Enjoy the Winter and keep on running!!!

See everyone next year!
